AEC Safety and Health Convention

We held “AEC Safety and Health Convention” on Tuesday, 14 July 2023 at Okinawa Head Office for the first time in 4 years.

The convention was aimed to achieve incident‐free workplace by thoroughly practicing preventive measures against industrial accidents and promoting safety activities in accordance with the guidelines of Construction Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (COHSMS).

From 27 partner companies in Okinawa and our company, 50 participants attended in total.

The opening ceremony began with an address by Masakatsu Kubota, director and AEC General Safety and Health Manager, followed by a greeting from Mr. Akihiro Higa, president of OKITO INDUSTRY CO., LTD.

After the opening ceremony, 3 guest speakers delivered following lectures on Safety and Health.

‐ “Industrial Safety and Health; Why Work Environment Measurement is necessary” by Mr. Kei Tomori, Air Environment Monitoring Section Manager, Environmental Technology Dept., Okinawa Environmental Analysis Center Co, Ltd.

‐ “Incident Prevention” by Mr. Yoshihiro Sakima, Safety and Health Section Manager, Okinawa Labor Standards Inspection Office.

‐ “Advice on preventing heatstroke” by Mr. Koichiro Osa, Director of Okinawa office, Kyushu Okinawa Region, Sales Division 3, Sales Headquarter, Sendai Meiban Co.,Ltd.

Through the lectures, all participants shared initiatives for ensuring safety and health, revisited their importance, and enhanced awareness about the significance of safety in conducting work.

At the convention, 3 companies (Nako Engineering, Shinsei Kogyo, and Horikawa Industry Co.) received Safety and Health Awards for their remarkable contributions in preventing industrial accidents, with a deep understanding of the importance of safety and a strong commitment to safe work operations.

The convention was closed with a closing address by Director Jason Rutherford, and all participants pledged to achieve incident‐free and accident‐free operations.

The slogan of this year’s National Safety Week is “Raise Safety Awareness and Behave Safely. Create Incident‐Free Workplace Together.”

To make 2023 a successful year in ensuring safety for all personnel and partner companies, we will continue to strive for achievement of incident‐free workplace thoroughly practicing measures to prevent industrial accidents.
