Expanding International Learning Opportunities for Children in Okinawa

Launch of the “Machinaka Study Abroad Fund, Sponsored by AEC”

sponsored by

American Engineering Corporation (AEC), in partnership with HelloWorld Inc., is proud to announce the launch of the Machinaka Study Abroad Fund, sponsored by AEC, an international exchange program designed for children residing in Okinawa Prefecture.

This initiative offers a safe, locally based homestay experience for children who may otherwise have limited access to overseas study or international exchange opportunities due to economic or environmental circumstances.

Why this Program Matters

In an increasingly globalized world, language proficiency and cross-cultural competence are essential for future academic and professional success.

Yet disparities in household income and access to resources continue to limit such opportunities for many children.

As a long-standing member of the Okinawan community, AEC regards contribution to education and human capital development as a core responsibility.

The Machinaka Study Abroad Fund has been established as part of AEC’s commitment to supporting the next generation and expanding their future pathways.

Through this program, participants gain hands-on cross-cultural experience and engage with English as a practical means of communication rather than solely an academic subject.

By fostering motivation, self-confidence, and a global perspective, the initiative also contributes to the long-term development of globally minded talent in Okinawa and to the sustainable growth of the local community.
